Industrial Stainless Pipe
Industrial stainless pipe specified for utility, process and non-sanitary line requirements where NPS, schedule, material grade and documentation must be clear.
Applications
ASTM A312 pipe should be treated separately from ASTM A270 sanitary tubing to avoid specification confusion.
Stainless pipe for non-sanitary industrial utility services.
Project-based pipe requirements with schedule and material clarity.
Repeat pipe and material list support for contractors.

Common Questions
Engineering and procurement questions we hear most often. For project-specific guidance, send your application details via RFQ.
A312 is for industrial/general pipe — chemical, oil & gas, marine, structural. A270 is specifically for sanitary food/dairy applications with mill-polished interior.
A312 has thicker walls and is rated for industrial pressures. A270 is thin-wall sanitary tubing. Different standards for different purposes.
Welded (EFW = electric fusion welded) is most common — economical, consistent, suitable for 95% of applications. Seamless costs more but eliminates the welded seam.
For severe service (high pressure, corrosive media, sour service), seamless preferred. For standard industrial applications, EFW with 100% RT is appropriate.
Schedule selection depends on pressure, temperature and corrosion allowance. ASME B31.3 provides design calculations.
Common: Sch 10S for utility/low pressure, Sch 40S for general process, Sch 80S for high pressure or sour service. Provide design pressure/temperature for proper sizing.
Yes — NACE MR0175 compliance for sour service (H2S environments) available. Specify with order — affects material selection and welding procedure.
NACE-compliant pipe has restrictions on hardness and chemistry. Required for oil & gas applications with sour gas. Documentation includes NACE compliance certificate.
Standard: hydrostatic test per A312 (1.5× rating). Optional: 100% radiographic test (RT), ultrasonic test (UT), eddy current, dye penetrant.
For critical service (sour, high pressure), specify 100% RT and request reports. For nuclear or aerospace, additional NDE may be required.
304 is general-purpose stainless. 316L has 2-3% molybdenum providing better corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides.
For chemical processing, marine, or aggressive media, specify 316L. For utility air, water, low-corrosion service, 304 is acceptable and lower cost.
Standard: EN 10204 3.1 MTR with heat numbers, dimensional and visual inspection reports, hydrotest certificate.
For critical service: 100% RT reports, NACE compliance, dimensional inspection per ASME B36.19M, charpy impact test for low-temperature service.
