Operating Conditions
Gasket material is the determining factor for temperature and chemical compatibility. EPDM standard, PTFE for chemicals, silicone for pharma, Viton for solvents.
Actual ratings depend on size, material and operating conditions. Confirm via RFQ for project-specific requirements.

Engineering and procurement questions we hear most often. For project-specific guidance, send your application details via RFQ.
EPDM is standard for CIP and most dairy/food applications (max 130°C). PTFE for high temperature and chemicals (250°C). Silicone for pharma/SIP (200°C, USP VI). Viton for solvents and chemicals.
For mixed service, PTFE offers widest compatibility but higher compression set. For pure water/steam, silicone is preferred. Send media list with RFQ for selection.
EPDM/silicone gaskets in CIP service: 6-12 months. PTFE: 1-2 years. Replace immediately if leakage, visible cracks, or compression set observed.
Maintain gasket inventory by size. Track replacement dates in CMMS. For critical service, replace as part of scheduled PM.
No — gaskets should never be reused. Once compressed, they take a permanent set and cannot reseal reliably. Always use new gaskets when reassembling.
Track gasket usage to prevent reuse during maintenance. Stock sufficient inventory. New gasket cost is minimal compared to leak/contamination risks.
Yes — all standard gaskets (EPDM, PTFE, silicone, Viton) comply with FDA 21 CFR 177 for food contact. Documentation available on request.
For pharmaceutical applications, request USP Class VI biocompatibility certification (silicone) or full BPE compliance package.
Standard gasket thickness is 3.0 mm. This is the optimal compromise between sealing and compression set across all sanitary sizes.
For special applications, 2.0 mm (thin) or 4.0 mm (thick) available. Thin gaskets for tight tolerance, thick for compensation of flange misalignment.
Compression set is the permanent deformation of the gasket after compression. Lower values mean better long-term sealing. EPDM: 15-20%, PTFE: 30-40%, Silicone: 15-25%.
High compression set means gasket cannot reseal after removal. This is why gaskets are not reusable. Choose materials with low compression set for critical applications.
Standard: FDA 21 CFR 177 compliance certificate for material. Optional: USP Class VI biocompatibility testing (silicone), full BPE compliance, 3.1 material certificate.
For pharma/biotech, specify USP Class VI silicone with full traceability. For oxygen service, specify oxygen-cleaned gaskets.
